NEWS BRIEF
Denver7 reports that the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority launched the Schools to Home Program in July to help eligible full-time public school employees with homebuying upfront costs. Eligible workers may include teachers, administrators, bus drivers and other full-time employees of qualifying public-school organizations.
The assistance is provided through a second mortgage of up to 25% of the first mortgage amount, with repayment deferred until the loan term ends or certain events occur. Applicants cannot currently own a home, and participants must complete required financial and homebuyer education courses.
What to know
CHFA's Schools to Home Program can assist eligible full-time Colorado public school employees with down payment and closing costs, but it is not a grant: it includes deferred repayment and a shared-appreciation component.
