The Denver Gazette reports that Colorado has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to reject Nebraska’s claim that Colorado violated the South Platte River Compact. Colorado’s filing says the state has complied with the agreement and alleges Nebraska has allowed out-of-priority well pumping that reduces water flows owed to Colorado. The dispute is connected to Nebraska’s proposed Perkins County Canal, a project that would cross land in Sedgwick County before entering Nebraska. Nebraska’s lawsuit remains before the court.
