NEWS BRIEF

Denver7 reports that CDOT introduced automated speed enforcement on the North I-25 construction corridor between Mead and Berthoud in April 2026. A CDOT spokesperson said the agency has recorded a 92% reduction in speeding along the corridor.

Colorado State Patrol data cited by Denver7 shows 320 reported crashes in the construction zone in 2024, 363 in 2025 and 324 through mid-October 2026. The totals cover different periods, so the 2026 figure is not a full-year comparison. Eight cameras are expected to remain during construction, which is projected to finish between 2027 and 2028.

What to know

CDOT reports a 92% reduction in speeding after cameras were added to the North I-25 work zone, but the reported crash totals do not provide a like-for-like annual comparison because the 2026 count covers only part of the year.
