NEWS BRIEF
According to the Denver Gazette, the Colorado Division of Insurance approved average 2027 premium increases of 10% in the individual market and 14% in the small-group market. Individual-market increases vary by rating area, from 5.9% in parts of eastern and southern Colorado to 15.5% in Grand Junction.
The division attributed the increases in part to the expiration of enhanced federal premium tax credits. The report also said Colorado Access will enter the market for the 2027 plan year, while Cigna plans to leave Colorado’s individual market effective Jan. 1, 2027.
What to know
Approved average rate increases differ by market and region, with Grand Junction’s individual market at 15.5%. The state insurance division said the loss of enhanced federal tax credits contributed to the increases, while state reinsurance helps limit some costs.
