The Greeley Tribune reports that Weld County commissioners approved the $1.67 billion Chalk Bluffs Energy Project in a 3-2 vote Wednesday after hearing public concerns about the proposed wind and solar development in northern Weld County.
The project is planned between U.S. 85 and Colorado 390 and is expected to include 79 wind turbines and more than 2,200 acres of solar panels. Developers project 805 megawatts of generation and cite anticipated construction and long-term economic impacts; some public speakers raised concerns about terrain and wildlife.
