NEWS BRIEF

Sentinel Colorado reports that Colorado and the city and county of Denver joined a coalition of 21 states and other local governments challenging the Environmental Protection Agency’s repeal of a Biden-era rule limiting greenhouse gas emissions from coal- and natural-gas-fired power plants.

The coalition asked the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit to review and strike down the repeal, arguing the EPA did not adequately consider alternatives or the health and climate costs of additional pollution. The EPA said it does not comment on pending litigation and previously said the repeal would reduce industry costs.

What to know

Colorado and Denver joined 21 states and other local governments seeking court review of the EPA’s repeal of a prior power-plant emissions rule. The EPA said it does not comment on pending litigation, while the coalition contends the repeal was unlawful.
