North Forty News reports that the Black Hollow Sun Solar Complex near Severance has been completed and is generating electricity for Platte River Power Authority. The two-phase Weld County project has 257 megawatts of net capacity, with 544,740 solar modules across about 1,700 acres, according to Platte River.
Platte River, which is owned by Estes Park, Fort Collins, Longmont and Loveland, built new substation and transmission infrastructure to connect the facility to its system. The utility expects the complex to produce about 608 gigawatt-hours annually, equivalent to serving approximately 73,000 homes and businesses.
