NEWS BRIEF

Colorado Public Radio reports that Secretary of State Jena Griswold, a candidate for Colorado attorney general, identified voter protection and legal challenges to actions by the Trump administration as central priorities for the office. She said she supports lawsuits brought by the current attorney general to protect Colorado.

Griswold also said she would focus on consumer protection, including illegal business practices, price gouging, grocery-store mergers, landlord issues and pollution. She said an attorney general’s office should defend Colorado laws, even when the attorney general disagrees with a law, while using outside counsel when ethical or legal conflicts arise.

What to know

Griswold said she would continue litigation she supports against the federal administration while also emphasizing consumer protection and defense of Colorado laws. Her statements describe campaign priorities; they do not indicate that any proposed action has been enacted.
