Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser’s office has filed a federal lawsuit seeking to halt renovation work at the proposed Big Horn immigration detention facility in Hudson, Colorado Public Radio reports. The state alleges the Department of Homeland Security has not completed required environmental analyses for the planned 1,200-bed facility.
The state is seeking a preliminary injunction until reviews of potential effects on air quality, water and wastewater infrastructure, local services, and wildlife are completed and shared with Colorado. A judge will decide whether to grant the requested relief; Hudson is not a party to the case.
