NEWS BRIEF
Sentinel Colorado reports that Ballot Issue 7A, a proposed sales tax for the Front Range Passenger Rail District, was included on roughly 800,000 ballots sent to voters who are not eligible to vote on it. The issue affects voters in Adams, Arapahoe, Douglas and Weld counties.
State and county election officials said voters should return their ballots normally. Clerks and the Secretary of State’s Office are developing procedures to identify ineligible votes on the measure so they are excluded from its final tally, while the rest of those ballots are counted. The rail district attributed the error to communication about updated boundaries.
What to know
Eligible voters’ Ballot Issue 7A votes are expected to be counted, while votes on the measure from ineligible voters will not be included in the final tally. Officials said guidance for counties is still being developed.
