Denver7 reports that FEMA announced more than $10.5 million in pre-disaster mitigation grants for Colorado. The awards include more than $8.6 million for Greeley’s Gold Hill Pipeline project, more than $1 million for roadway wildfire hazard mitigation in Jefferson County, and more than $869,000 for Mesa County’s Douglas Wash Detention Basin Project.
According to FEMA officials, most of the Colorado projects focus on infrastructure intended to reduce flood risk, while others address wildfire and earthquake hazards. The announcement came after FEMA denied portions of Colorado’s disaster declaration request related to the Aspen Acres Fire.
