Widely recognized for his thoughtful, common-sense approach to addressing issues that affect families, businesses, and communities, Scott K. James is a staunch defender of the power of the individual, the free market, the rule of law, and maintaining a small, limited government that fulfills only its proper role. A former Council member and Mayor of Johnstown, Colorado, Scott delights in public service and continues that service as the second-term Weld County Commissioner representing District 2 and the Weld County Republican Party Chairman.
A community-involved Northern Colorado native, Scott is a 40-year veteran media personality and host of Scott & Sadie in the Morning heard weekdays on Big 97.9. Awarded Best Morning Show, Best News/Talk Personality, and Best Station Entertainment Personality by the Colorado Broadcasters’ Association and awarded County Commissioner of the Year by Colorado Counties, Incorporated, Scott, his wife, Julie, and 17-year-old son, Jack, call Johnstown home.

About the Weld GOP Chair…
Article VI, Section 3 of the Weld County Republican Central Committee Bylaws says, “The Chairman shall be the Chief Executive officer of the Weld County Republican Central Committee and of the Weld County Republican Party. He/she shall preside at all meetings of the committee, and shall observe and enforce these By-Laws. He/she shall call any County Republican Assembly or Convention to order and may preside thereat, or with the consent of the majority of the Executive Committee may select some other person to do so, until a permanent chairman thereof shall have been chosen, for which he/she shall also be eligible. He/she shall appoint all Standing Committee personnel, except the Auditing and Vacancy Committees, and the officers thereof. He/she shall also appoint all other needful committees, and the committee personnel and officers thereof, with the consent of the majority of the Executive Committee. He/she shall be an ex-officio member of all committees aforesaid, but shall have no vote therein, except in the case of a tie. He/she shall promote the best interests of the Republican Party in Weld County and exercise his/her best efforts to keep and develop harmony in the party.”
